On 25 November 2023, THRDC was pleased to join all activist
globally in launching of 16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence as a
key international moment to call for an end to violence against women and
girls. This runs from 25th November (the International Day for the Elimination
of Violence Against Women) until 10th December, Human Rights Day.
In Tanzania, this campaign is carried out by MKUKI COALITION under the
leadership of WILDAF Tanzania.
This launch drew the presence of development parters, UN agencies, embassies,
government officials, as well as local and international Civil Society
Organizations (CSOs) from both mainland Tanzania and Zanzibar.
The guest of honor in was Hon. Dr. Dorothy Gwajima Minister for Community
Development who is representing H.E Dr. Samia Suluhu Hassan, the President United Republic of Tanzania.
In support of this campaign, THRDC continues to support NGOs in rising
awareness, advocacy efforts and share knowledge and innovations to help end all
types of violence against women and girls.
In 2023, campaign theme is Invest to Prevent Violence against Women &
Girls.
