About the Tanzania Human Rights Defenders Coalition:
The Tanzania Human Rights Defenders Coalition (THRDC) is a non-governmental, non-partisan human rights organization registered under the Non-Governmental Organizations Act of 2002 in Mainland and as society under the Societies Act of 1995 (Act No. 6) on part of Zanzibar. THRDC is a Human Rights Defenders umbrella organization with a total of 292 member organizations from both Tanzania Mainland and Zanzibar. Its membership and representation in terms of operations and thematic is spread through 11 designated zonal coordinating units and 14 members thematic areas all over the United Republic of Tanzania respectively. The long-term goal of the Coalition is to see a free and secured environment for human rights defenders in Tanzania, and to ensure HRDs in Tanzania carries out their essential work free from harm and repression, in accordance with the UN Declaration on Human rights defenders of 1998. The ultimate result of all these, as this coalition visualizes, is a contribution to the creation of safer working environment for the HRDs. HRDs are organizations or individual who work to protect and promote other rights including Journalists, Lawyers, Human Rights Institutions etc.

About the Volunteering Opportunity:
Towards ensuring the THRDC’s Information, Communication and Technology department is effectively operational and delivers its establishment mandate, enough resources including human resource needs to be in place to cater for the requirements. THRDC is looking for the knowledgeable, energetic, self-motivated and proactive Tanzanian ICT person to serve as a Volunteer under the ICT department. The incumbent will work under the supervision of the ICT Officer. Among other roles the ICT Volunteer will support the ICT Officer in overseeing the program’s technology systems, ensuring their efficiency, security, and functionality. This position involves overseeing the setup, maintenance, and efficient operation of ICT systems to support the Coalition’s operations.

Key Roles:
i. Support in management and maintenance of THRDC’ s ICT infrastructure including LANs and WANs, Wi-Fi, networks, computers, laptops and servers across the organization.
ii. Provide support in the design of an effective ICT for the organization following trends in the industry.
iii. With the support from the ICT Officer ensure compliance and adherence to ICT policies and procedures.
iv. Support the execution of the operational plans for the ICT systems and manage inventory of all assets.
v. Ensure user access to applications and systems and resolve network failures in a timely manner.
vi. Provide first level support to users for IT related problems, record all incidents and follow them up to resolution.vii. Manage the formalized training program for all staff with the aim of raising skills standards and awareness in the use of ICT applications.
viii. Support the preparation of the periodic reports in line with the organization’s reporting guidelines to management.
ix. Any other duties assigned from time to time by the supervisor

Qualifications and Experience:
i. Bachelor’s degree in either Information Technology OR Computer Science or a related field.
ii. Minimum one (1) year experience in a program-based ICT role, preferably in a training set up.
iii. Proficiency in setting up and maintaining ICT systems including hardware, software, and networks.
iv. The following skills: Strong problem-solving abilities and the capacity to troubleshoot technical issues; excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with program teams.
v. Knowledge of data security best practices and experience implementing security measures.
vi. Certifications relevant to ICT project management are advantageous.
vii. Experience in graphic design and data analysis is an added advantage
viii. Work under pressure; meet timelines with good quality deliverables
