PILI MTAMBALIKE-BOARD CHAIRPERSON
She is an independent Media and Communication Consultant, coach and trainer. Until December 2018 she was the Programme Manager at the Media Council of Tanzania (MCT) where she worked for 17 years. She is a veteran journalist with some 40 years experience working in various capacities in the media and outside the media. She started her journalism career as a reporter in 1982 with the Tanzania News Agency (SHIHATA). She later joined UNICEF in 1992 where she worked in the Media and Communication Unit. In 1998 she joined UNDP as a Communication Expert in the National Multi sectoral HIV/AIDS Programme executed by the National Aids Control Programme (NACP).
Ms. Mtambalike is one of the founder members of the Tanzania Media Women’s Association and served as its Secretary General from 1992- 2000. She is a human rights activist and has served in various Boards including that of the Legal and Human Rights Centre (LHRC), Sikika an NGO which works to improve citizen participation, transparency, and accountability in the health sector and the Tanzania Media Foundation (TMF) that works to promote public interest journalism through innovation, creativity, learning and partnerships.
Ms. Mtambalike is currently the Tanzania National Facilitator for the International Training Programme (ITP) – Media Development in a Democratic Framework – Africa Programme supported by the Swedish International Development Agency (SIDA). After retiring in 2018 from MCT she is now working as a media consultant, coach and trainer on media and communication issues.
